Somalia has a growing aviation industry. The country has several airports with paved runways and 55 have unpaved runways. In order to meet international standards, rehabilitation work needs to be done on these airports. Somalia’s major and largest airport is the international airport of Aden Adde (formerly known as Mogadishu International Airport), followed by other three main airports namely, Hargeisa Egal Airport, Shati Guduud Airport in Baidoa, and Kismayo Airport, in addition to many other local airports. For the last 19 years, a United Nations body, Civil Aviation Caretaker Authority of Somalia (CACAS) has managed Somalia’s airspace without Somali involvement and international oversight. However, this has now changed as Somalia’s current government focused on redeeming control over its airspace. The authority of Airspace control has now been transferred to the current Somali government by the UN body. Following this announcement. Due to the growing population traveling through the airports, the need for the qualified national companies is increasing, with the capacity to provide the necessary airport services.in the international standards with local context and values. In response to this, Asal Airport services has come as the first pure Somali National company with the capacity to run the full operational services of airport at the international standards.
